The n-butane oxidation process takes n-butane as raw material, and under the action of V2O5-P2O5 series catalyst, gas-phase oxidation reaction occurs to generate maleic anhydride.
Uses of maleic anhydride
Maleic anhydride is an important basic raw material of unsaturated organic anhydride. In pesticide production, it is used to synthesize diethyl maleate, the intermediate of organophosphorus insecticide malathion, 1-phenyl-3,6-dihydroxypyridazine, the intermediate of pyridazinon, and the intermediate of pyrethroid insecticide, permethrin, fungicide, and chloramphenicol. In addition, it is also used as raw material for the production of unsaturated polyester resin, alkyd resin, pesticide malathion, high-efficiency and low-toxicity pesticide 4049, and long-acting iodamine. Maleic anhydride is also a coating, maleic rosin, polymaleic anhydride, maleic anhydride-styrene copolymer. It is also an organic chemical raw material for the production of ink additives, paper additives, plasticizers and tartaric acid, fumaric acid, tetrahydrofuran, etc.
Maleic anhydride is a commonly used important basic organic chemical raw material, and it is the third largest anhydride raw material in the world after acetic anhydride and phthalic anhydride. Its downstream products have quite extensive development and application prospects. It is mainly used to synthesize unsaturated polyester resin, which is the raw material for the manufacture of auto parts, ships, corrosion-resistant chemical equipment and daily necessities. Maleic anhydride is also an important intermediate for the production of lubricating oil additives, coatings, pesticides, fumaric acid, copolymers, and food additives. Its hydrogenated derivatives are succinic anhydride, 1,4-butanediol, r-J lactone and tetrahydrofuran.
